La créativité de la NASA

NASA's Creativity

From NASA to the Tapiézo Workshop

Creativity is an innate quality that we all possess from a very young age. However, studies have shown that this ability tends to diminish over time. One of the most significant studies on this subject was conducted by Dr. George Land for NASA. This study revealed that 98% of children between the ages of 4 and 5 possess “genius”-level creative abilities, a figure that drops to 2% by adulthood.

The NASA Creativity Test

In the 1960s, NASA commissioned Dr. George Land and Beth Jarman to develop a test to measure the creative potential of its engineers and scientists. This test, initially designed to identify the most innovative minds, was later used to assess creativity in children. The results were striking:

At age 5 : 98% of children were classified as “imaginative geniuses.”

At 10 years old : this figure fell to 30%.

At 15 : Teenagers' imagination drops to 12%

In adulthood : creative abilities drop to 2%

George Land explains the 2% to you!

These findings suggest that our educational and societal system may be inhibiting our creative potential over time.

The Tapiézo Method: Awakening the Creative Genius Within Us

Faced with this observation, artists like François Tapiézo have developed approaches to rekindle this creative flame. Based in Roussillon, Provence, Tapiézo uses natural materials such as sand and ochre pigments to create unique works. His technique involves combining opposing elements, such as solid (sand) and liquid (paint), to stimulate imagination and innovation.

Tapiézo also offers creative workshops for everyone, regardless of age or artistic ability. These workshops provide an opportunity to unleash one's creative potential, overcome artistic barriers, and regain confidence in one's ability to innovate.

Why is it essential to cultivate our creativity?

Creativity isn't just for artists. It plays a crucial role in problem-solving, adaptability, and innovation in various areas of life. By cultivating our creativity, we can:

Improve our ability to solve complex problems : Creative thinking allows us to approach challenges from different perspectives.

Foster innovation : Innovative ideas often arise from a fertile imagination.

Build our self-confidence : Creating something unique provides a sense of accomplishment.

In conclusion, it is necessary to revive creativity and very important to cultivate it . Initiatives like those of Tapiézo offer avenues to reconnect with our creative potential and enrich our personal and professional lives.
